About the grape
Tempranillo is Spain's leading red grape, the basis of the wines of Rioja and Ribera del Duero; in the latter it is called Tinto Fino or Tinta del País. Its name comes from its early ripening. It makes reds with cherry and plum, and notes of leather and tobacco when aged in oak.
