Baja California's vineyards are concentrated within about 90 km of Ensenada, on the Pacific coast, in valleys such as Guadalupe, San Antonio de las Minas, Santo Tomás, San Vicente and Ojos Negros. The climate is Mediterranean and dry, with hot summers tempered by Pacific winds and cool nights. Many grapes are grown, among them Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Nebbiolo, Tempranillo, Grenache, Petite Sirah and Chenin Blanc.
