Central Valley

The Central Valley DO runs from Chacabuco province, in the Santiago Metropolitan Region, to the provinces of Linares and Cauquenes in the Maule Region. It groups the Maipo, Rapel (Cachapoal and Colchagua), Curicó and Maule valleys. The climate is Mediterranean, with hot, dry summers, wet winters and cool air flowing down from the Andes. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Carménère lead, along with Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay.
