Between Florence and Siena, Chianti Classico DOCG occupies hills of 200 to 600 m, with vineyards up to 700 m, on galestro and alberese soils, and contains at least 80% Sangiovese. In the province of Siena, Brunello di Montalcino DOCG is 100% Sangiovese, while in the Maremma, from the hills to the sea, the Maremma Toscana DOC is best known for Vermentino.
