Tuscany
Italy
Tuscany lies on Italy's west coast and its main grape is Sangiovese. Between Florence and Siena, Chianti Classico DOCG occupies hills of 200 to 600 m, with vineyards up to 700 m, on galestro and alberese soils, and contains at least 80% Sangiovese. In the province of Siena, Brunello di Montalcino DOCG is 100% Sangiovese, while in the Maremma, from the hills to the sea, the Maremma Toscana DOC is best known for Vermentino.
