Emilia Romagna
Italy
Emilia Romagna spans northern Italy south of the Po River, running inland from the Adriatic Sea, with Bologna as its capital. Its best-known wine is Lambrusco, a sparkling red. In the west, in the province of Piacenza, the Colli Piacentini DOC covers four valleys at 150 to 450 m, with whites from Malvasia di Candia and Ortrugo; the same hills give Gutturnio, a separate DOC since 2010, a red from Barbera and Croatina.
