Calchaquí Valleys
Argentina
The Calchaquí Valleys are a geographical indication in northwest Argentina that joins valleys in Salta, Tucumán and Catamarca. In Salta, the Cafayate department holds most of the vineyards. Vines grow between about 1,700 and over 3,000 m, with strong ultraviolet radiation and a wide gap between day and night temperatures. Malbec is the most planted grape, alongside Cabernet Sauvignon and Torrontés Riojano, its main white grape.
