Mendoza
Luján de Cuyo · Argentina
Mendoza lies in western Argentina, on the eastern side of the Andes, which block the rain: about 200 mm falls a year, and vines depend on irrigation from mountain rivers. The climate is continental, dry and sunny. Luján de Cuyo, south of the city along the Mendoza River, has vineyards at 800 to 1,100 m on stony alluvial soils, with districts such as Agrelo and Vistalba, and is known for Malbec as well as Cabernet Sauvignon.
